Rotary Drill Control System Engineer

This role focuses on developing, integrating, validating, and maintaining complex electrical, electronic, and software systems for Caterpillar's Rotary Blasthole Drills. It involves collaborating with cross-functional teams on system architecture, hardware selection, software requirements, and integration strategies, with a strong emphasis on troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of system issues.

What you'd actually do

  1. Collaborate with machine system teams to develop electrical subsystems, select electronic components, and define software and diagnostic requirements.
  2. Lead the creation, review, and approval of electrical/electronic system requirements used for product software development and electronic hardware integration.
  3. Manage Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL) bench strategy and planning for NPI programs, ensuring coverage of key system interactions.
  4. Analyze machine electrical, electronic, and software architectures to define system behavior, configuration parameters, and integration dependencies.
  5. Lead root‑cause analysis and resolution of electrical/electronic and software‑related issues identified during NPI, CPI, and validation activities.
