Joby Aviation Joby Aviation · Robotics · Santa Cruz, CA · Flight Physics

Rotordynamics Engineer at Joby Aviation responsible for developing rotordynamics load criteria, modeling, analysis, validation, testing support, and certification for VTOL aircraft. Requires B.S. in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, 6+ years of loads analysis experience, and proficiency in aeroelastic tools and scripting languages.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop external loads, rotordynamic models, and aerodynamic databases for propeller/aeroelastic simulations.
  2. Create multi-body analysis simulations and implement rotordynamic loads databases for structural and propeller design teams.
  3. Interpret experimental data to correlate and validate aircraft aeroelastic models.
  4. Support flight, ground, and laboratory testing for model development and empirical certification loads.
  5. Determine certification basis, establish compliance strategies, and develop/review certification-related documentation.
