This role is for a Safety EHS Engineer at Northrop Grumman, responsible for implementing and managing environmental, health, and safety programs. The engineer will interpret regulations, conduct hazard assessments, maintain safety programs (electrical, lockout-tagout, material handling, contractor safety, confined space, fall protection, cryogenics, incident investigations, robotics), conduct training, perform compliance inspections, and integrate EHS into new processes and construction projects. The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to support EHS initiatives.

What you'd actually do

  1. Reviews and interprets existing and proposed environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations to determine applicability and impact to site. Develops, implements, and maintains EHS programs to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal requirements, injury prevention, and risk mitigation.
  2. Conducts job hazard assessments and recommends appropriate hazard control approaches.
  3. Maintains and performs tasks for the following occupational safety programs: electrical, lockout-tagout, material handling (cranes, aerial lifts, and forklifts), contractor safety, confined space, fall protection, cryogenics, incident investigations, and robotics.
  4. Experience in conducting training for crane, aerial lift, fall protection and forklift operations.
  5. Experience conducting internal compliance inspections in EHS programs.

Skills

Required

  • Experience in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or environmental science
  • Experience in conducting incident investigations, personal protective equipment assessments, and job hazard analysis
  • Experience in conducting training for crane, aerial lift, fall protection and forklift operations
  • Experience in occupational safety programs, such as electrical, lockout-tagout, material handling, contractor safety, confined space, fall protection, and cryogenics based on the review and interpretation of EHS regulations
  • Experience conducting internal compliance inspections in EHS programs
  • Experience in conducting in person training and developing online training for various EHS compliance related topics to various types of audience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Clearance
  • US Citizenship Required

  • MS degree in occupational safety, or a related field
