This role is for a Safety Manager at John Deere's North American Parts Distribution Center (NAPDC) in Milan, IL. What you'd actually do

  1. Prepare strategic and tactical plans as required to meet company goals around compliance and injury reduction.
  2. Analyze appropriate health and safety metrics to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  3. Establish and manage processes for periodic inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations and corrective action assurance.
  4. Lead a team of safety, ergonomic and occupational health professionals.

Skills

Required

  • 5 or more years of experience in the Occupational Health and Safety profession in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Investigation skills to determine root cause and conduct trend analysis of incidents
  • Knowledge of governmental/agency regulatory requirements or legislation, occupational health principles, occupational safety programs and ergonomic principles, with the ability to apply to workplace environments
  • Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution
  • Understanding of occupational health, safety, industrial hygiene, and ergonomic principles
  • Knowledge of workers compensation laws and regulations
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 25%
