Sales Engineer for Sumo Logic's MSSP offerings, focusing on technical expertise, product demonstrations, and solution design for clients. The role involves understanding customer requirements, guiding them through trials and Proof of Values, and collaborating with Product Management and Engineering.

What you'd actually do

  1. Partner with the MSSP Account Executives to understand customer challenges and mains, and articulate Sumo Logic’s value proposition, vision, and strategy to customers
  2. Technically close complex opportunities through advanced competitive knowledge, technical skill, and credibility
  3. Understand and help orchestrate all phases of the sales cycle, including leading technical validations during the Proof of Value phase
  4. Be successful working with all levels of an organization, from executives down to individual developers and Site Reliability Engineers
  5. Deliver product and technical demonstrations of the Sumo Logic service

Skills

Required

  • Hands on knowledge of Security related products, technologies, and sources such as IDS/IPS, SIEM/Log Management, Network / Endpoint Security, Threat Detection, Incident Response, MSSP/MDR, Threat Feeds, CASB, etc
  • Experience with leading and running technical validations like Proof of Value
  • Experience selling and working with pure SaaS solutions in multi-tenant architectures
  • A broad background and understanding of technical infrastructure (servers, networking devices, storage, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as business and technical acumen

Nice to have

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 2+ years as a Solutions Engineer
  • 2+ years as a Solutions Architect
  • 2+ years as a Sales Engineer
  • Implementation Consultant
  • Support Engineer
  • Site Reliability Engineer
  • Software Developer with experience leading projects and/or working with customers
  • Experience with open source collections (Telegraf, FluentBit, FluentD, Open Telemetry, etc.)
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure
  • certification is preferred
  • Modern application architecture (micro-services, containers) understanding and experience working with Kubernetes, Docker, and/or Lambda
  • Experience with various monitoring tools like Splunk, Datadog, Elastic, New Relic, etc.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment and experience at a successful startup
