This role is for a Tax Product Analyst at Merck, focusing on the SAP IT Tax module. The analyst will translate business requirements into solutions for tax functions and compliance, with hands-on experience in SAP and tax solution deployments. Key responsibilities include understanding tax rules, defining functional requirements for tax software, configuring and maintaining tax engines (SAP Tax Engine, OneSource Tax Engine), supporting integrations with SAP modules (FI, SD, MM), and participating in testing and issue resolution. The role requires familiarity with SAP Tax Engine/OneSource and indirect tax concepts like VAT, GST, and sales tax.

What you'd actually do

  1. This role requires an understanding of tax rules, strong understanding of tax codes, analytical skills, and experience with financial and data analysis tools
  2. Responsible for understanding tax requirements and translating them into clear functional requirements for tax-related software products, with a focus on indirect taxes like VAT, GST, and sales tax
  3. Define and review test cases and validate tax scenarios in various business operations
  4. Assist in the configuration and maintenance of SAP Tax Engine and OneSource Tax Engine to ensure accurate tax determination and compliance
  5. Support the integration of tax engines with core SAP modules, including FI (Financial Accounting), SD (Sales and Distribution), and MM (Materials Management)
