The Environmental Scientist will be responsible for overseeing all environmental permits and programs at the RTP site, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, and serving as the primary interface with regulatory agencies. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a related field and experience managing environmental compliance programs in a regulated manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead and maintain site-wide environmental compliance programs, including air, water, wastewater, stormwater, and hazardous waste.
  2. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and site permits
  3. Serve as the primary interface with regulatory agencies and manage inspections, reporting, and correspondence.
  4. Own environmental permitting, compliance assessments, audits, and corrective actions
  5. Provide technical guidance and training to operations, engineering, and site partners

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field
  • Experience managing environmental compliance programs in a regulated manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment
  • Strong working knowledge of EPA and North Carolina environmental regulations
  • Proven experience with permitting, reporting, and regulatory agency engagement
