Seat System Engineer

This role is for a Seat System Engineer at Ford, responsible for managing seat system deliverables, timing, and cost within vehicle program teams. The engineer will lead processes to meet system requirements, coordinate with suppliers, track program status, manage change control, and ensure engineering deliverables are met throughout the product development lifecycle.

What you'd actually do

  1. Track and report program status for each stage of the complete GPDS (Global Product Development Process) gateways/milestones, from Product definition, Target setting, Supplier sourcing, Engineering development, Validation, and testing, and up to Launch and production stages.
  2. Lead tracking of status of seat supplier sourcing process from SOBA to CPA. Facilitate Team of 4 process and leads total seat system financial tracking/reporting.
  3. Lead seat program control meeting to manage engineering status report (ESR), quality/cost/weight/tooling status, and timing status to objective.
  4. Lead interface to the program change control for seat specific issues.
  5. Lead seats change control (run meeting, coordinate open issues, schedule/strategize change to be reviewed, and audit all CR’s/Notices/Alerts).

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive seating
  • Proficient communication and presentation skills
  • Advanced people skills
  • Project management skills

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in engineering or similar
  • Knowledge of the full product development cycle, including launch experience in at least one vehicle.
