Security Engineering Manager, Network Security

Weights & Biases Weights & Biases · Data AI · Bellevue, WA +4 · Technology

This role is for a Security Engineering Manager focused on network security for an AI hyperscaler's infrastructure. The individual will lead a team, shape network security design, and ensure security scales with the platform, impacting performance, reliability, and isolation for demanding AI workloads. Responsibilities include strategy, design, DDoS mitigation, incident escalation, and defining security standards, with a focus on secure by design principles in high-performance networking environments.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead, grow, and develop a team of network security engineers through mentorship, technical direction, and performance management.
  2. Own the strategy and evolution of CoreWeave’s network security posture across the network fabric, control planes, and edge.
  3. Partner with Networking to design and secure large scale network architectures, including modern overlay and segmentation based designs such as EVPN, VXLAN, and VRF based isolation.
  4. Guide the security implications of infrastructure offload patterns, including the use of DPUs and SmartNICs for networking and policy enforcement.
  5. Drive the design and maturity of DDoS mitigation and traffic defense capabilities, balancing in house systems with third party platforms where appropriate.

Skills

Required

  • 7 to 12 or more years of experience in network, infrastructure, or platform security within large scale cloud, hyperscaler, ISP, or high performance computing environments.
  • 3 to 5 or more years of experience leading or managing engineers, either as a people manager or technical leader with people responsibility.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing, BGP, DNS, TLS, segmentation, and control plane security.
  • Experience securing modern network architectures, including overlay based designs and multi tenant environments.
  • Comfortable reasoning about complex distributed systems and applying sound security judgment in performance sensitive environments.
  • Communicate clearly and partner effectively across disciplines, including Networking, Infrastructure, and SRE.
  • Pragmatic, systems oriented mindset and are comfortable making tradeoffs in fast moving environments.

Nice to have

  • Experience operating or securing high performance or HPC grade networks, including InfiniBand based fabrics.
  • Hands on exposure to large scale fabric networking and performance sensitive traffic patterns.
  • Experience with DPUs, SmartNICs, or similar infrastructure offload technologies.
  • Experience with Kubernetes networking, containerized environments, and CNI based policy enforcement.
  • Proficiency with automation or programming languages such as Python or Go.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, ISO, or SOC2 in the context of infrastructure and platform security.
  • Experience partnering closely with incident response, detection engineering, or reliability teams during complex incidents.
