Security Generalist role for Ford's Michigan Central District, focusing on access control, building security, emergency response, and armed personnel protection across multiple properties. Requires firearm proficiency, strong observation skills, and customer service.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provide comprehensive access control, building security, and emergency response for employees, executives, tenants, visitors, and the public within all Michigan Central District properties
  2. Administer security services, including monitoring security cameras, electronic access control systems, alarm systems, and specialized security equipment, ensuring optimal functionality through routine checks and basic troubleshooting
  3. Conduct frequent foot and/or vehicle patrols of interior and exterior areas throughout the district to deter unauthorized activity, identify potential security vulnerabilities or hazards, monitor site conditions, and ensure site integrity
  4. Serve as a first responder to emergency and non-emergency incidents, including medical emergencies, fire alarms, and behavioral situations, exercising sound judgment and de-escalation techniques
  5. Provide armed personnel protection and emergency response for executives, employees, and visitors, maintaining firearm proficiency and legal compliance

Skills

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in law enforcement, military, or relevant armed security roles
  • Possess a valid Driver’s license
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm, rational, and professional under pressure, including stressful emergency situations (i.e., medical, fire, security, or other life-threatening incidents)
  • High level of integrity and professionalism
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Strong observation skills and attention to detail, with the ability to administer duties with accuracy
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills, with a strong customer service mindset
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced urban environment
  • Ability to sit/stand for long periods, and stand/walk for extended periods performing patrols in various weather conditions
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
  • Strong Microsoft Office and computer skills; ability to navigate department technology platforms (e.g., CCTV, Access Control)
  • Must possess a Concealed Pistol License (CPL) and demonstrate firearm proficiency as a condition of hire

Nice to have

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, or a related field
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification
  • Experience using advanced security technology (e.g., security cameras, electronic access control, alarm systems)
  • Experience in a high-traffic, hospitality-focused, multi-tenant urban environment or high-profile public-facing site
  • Prior experience as a first responder to emergency incidents
  • Possess a Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) or meet the requirements to obtain one within 1 month from the date of hire
