Senior Accounts Receivable Disputes Associate

This role focuses on managing and resolving accounts receivable disputes, involving investigation, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration to prevent future disputes and improve financial processes. It also involves identifying automation opportunities within these processes.

What you'd actually do

  1. Manage a portfolio of moderately complex disputes/deductions (e.g., pricing/term interpretation, compliance-related fees, multi-line invoice discrepancies, repeat offender patterns) through resolution and recovery.
  2. Conduct deep-dive research across ERP, customer portals, proof of delivery, pricing/rate cards, contracts/terms, and internal operational data to validate claims and determine outcomes.
  3. Serve as an escalation point for analysts; lead customer and internal negotiations to challenge invalid claims and secure repayment or documentation-based denial.
  4. Understand and communicate dispute impacts to accounts receivable (AR), revenue, credits, reserves/allowances, and period-close timelines; ensure outcomes follow policy and approvals.
  5. Maintain complete dispute case files (evidence, rationale, approvals, correspondence) to support audit readiness and consistent decisioning.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in accounts receivable, dispute/deduction management, or a related financial analysis
  • In-depth knowledge of dispute processes and how credits, write-offs, recoveries, and timing affect financial statements and close
  • Advanced ability to resolve complex discrepancies using structured problem-solving and data-driven validation
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong proficiency with a major ERP system (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to travel 10%, on average
  • Must be able to relocate or live in the Orlando, FL or Gilbert, AZ area
