Seeking a Senior Aerospace Systems Safety Engineer to join the Enterprise Safety team in St. Louis, MO. The role involves establishing a safety engineering function, developing product safety design processes, and providing safety analyses for Boeing's products and services. Responsibilities include collaborating with stakeholders, developing process guidance and training content, and investigating model-based systems engineering tools for safety deliverables. Requires a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, significant related work experience (9+ or 14+ years depending on level), and the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand the challenges related to performing safety analysis activities consistent with applicable industry standards (e.g. ARP4754, ARP4761, Mil-Std-882E)
  2. Develop relevant process guidance, training content, best practice documentation, or model-based capabilities specific to system safety and mission assurance
  3. Contribute to our Safety Engineering College by developing training material to educate the wider engineering team on product safety fundamentals including: FHAs (functional hazard analysis), FTAs (fault tree analysis), FMEAs (failure mode & effects analysis), Development Assurance, software safety, use of newly developed tools, etc
  4. Investigate model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools to digitally connect, store, and integrate critical safety deliverables like Functional Hazards Assessments, Fault Trees, Cascading Effects, and advanced safety analyses

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Level 4: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Level 5: 14+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
  • A final post-start U.S. Top Secret clearance and Special Program Access is required
  • 2+ years of leadership experience do you have leadership experience in the development of a System Safety Hazard Analyses (e.g. System Hazard, Subsystem Hazard, Fault Tree, Failure Modes & Effects, Reliability, or Maintainability)
  • Ability to travel 10-20% of the time

Nice to have

  • Experience effectively communicating, both verbally and in writing, and collaborating on multi-discipline teams
  • Experience with Model-Based Engineering (MBE) and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience in traditional engineering analytical methods and Aerospace/Industry standards (SAE ARP 4761)
  • Experience in systems design and/or systems analysis and/or systems integration
  • Experience managing Agile Methodologies
  • Experience leading and influencing cross-functional teams
  • Experience working with cross discipline engineering teams
  • Experience do you have with architecture modeling tools (e.g. Rational System Architect, Rational Software Architect, MagicDraw, Cameo Enterprise Architecture)
