This role is for a Senior Applications Electrical Engineer who will be the primary technical interface between estimating, customers, and Engineering/Manufacturing teams. The focus is on the initial project phase, defining scope, generating preliminary electrical and mechanical designs, and supporting estimating for custom power, control, and modular building products. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with at least 5 years of experience and a solid understanding of NEC and low/medium voltage power distribution systems in a manufacturing or project environment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Directly engage with customers and the estimating team to define the electrical scope of work and translate client requirements into clear, concise technical specifications for custom equipment.
  2. Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates and technical proposals, ensuring alignment with customer scope and manufacturing capabilities.
  3. Create initial electrical design documents for proposals and project handoff, including one-line diagrams, preliminary control schematics, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  4. Confirm the accuracy of project materials quoted to customers, including the review of vendor bid packages and submittals for technical accuracy and cost-effectiveness.
  5. Perform preliminary branch circuit and feeder calculations on power distribution equipment, as well as specifying and sizing appropriate electrical components per applicable codes.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing, construction, or project environment
  • 2+ years of experience in applications, project estimating, or sales
  • Solid knowledge of low voltage and medium voltage power distribution systems and control panels
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical diagrams
  • Solid knowledge of the NEC (National Electrical Code)
  • Solid knowledge of Office-based software systems
  • Basic knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) to create and document electrical schematics and one-line diagrams
  • Solid skills in developing and maintaining effective work relationships with production personnel, electrical technicians, and the estimating team
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner on several projects at the same time and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
