Senior Associate, Project Manager

This role is for a Senior Project Manager at Capital One, a financial services company. The primary focus is on leading medium to large-scale, complex, cross-departmental projects that have a direct impact on the company's bottom line. Responsibilities include driving projects based on defined priorities, managing scope, timelines, and budget, identifying and mitigating risks, planning and executing project plans, leveraging problem-solving skills, conducting meetings, reporting project status, and partnering with stakeholders to ensure delivery and improve business processes. The role requires a proven track record in project management, strong communication, partnership, organizational agility, and consulting skills.

What you'd actually do

  1. Work on medium to large-scale complex, cross-departmental projects that have a direct impact on the company
  2. Drive cross-functional projects based on defined priorities; ensure scope of deliverables, timelines and budget are met; identify risks and issues and mitigate and / or escalate as needed; manage complex up and downstream project impacts.
  3. Plan, design, manage and execute project plans to ensure delivery. This activity includes management through feasibility, design, planning and implementation.
  4. Leverage problem solving skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent and maintain key project documentation
  5. Conduct regular meetings with project team. Document progress and report to stakeholders on project status.
  6. Partner with project customers to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive project delivery
  7. Forge relationships with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of commitments
  8. Identify ways to improve and streamline business process

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience
  • At least 3 years of Project Management experience

Nice to have

  • Masters / MBA degree
  • At least 5 years of Project Management experience
  • At least 1 year of People Management experience
  • PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong problem solving and influencing skills
  • Work experience achieving results with complex projects
