Senior Avionics Flight Systems Responsible Engineer for Boeing's Space Launch System (SLS) program, focusing on designing and developing electronic hardware for space launch vehicles, particularly Electrical Power Systems (EPS). Responsibilities include requirements definition, system architecture, hardware/software design, testing, and leading technical problem resolution.

What you'd actually do

  1. Designs electronic hardware focused on space launch vehicle applications
  2. Develops avionics assembly designs primarily focused on Electrical Power Systems (EPS) - Power distribution/control and battery design and testing to include controller and remote power controllers (RPCs)
  3. Oversees the development, production and testing of the Power Distribution Control Unit (PDCU) supporting the Electrical Power Systems (EPS) team.
  4. Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans
  5. Develops, documents and maintains electronic and electrical system requirements according to customer desires and contract requirements

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications
  • 9 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience with power distribution controllers design and test
  • Ability to travel up to 15%

Nice to have

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related science or technology field degree
  • Proficient in power distribution controller design
  • Experience in one or more of these focused areas: analog/digital circuits, firmware/Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), serial and parallel communication protocols, radio frequency
  • Good communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Creo Parametric/Windchill
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Previous design team or special project team participation
  • Experience of Printed Wiring Board (PWB) design processes
  • Experience MIL-STD-1553, ethernet, RS-422 and other communication protocols
  • Experience of test equipment including signal generators, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes
