Senior Backend Engineer to build and scale a petabyte-scale observability platform focused on developer experience. The role involves owning backend services, data pipelines, and APIs, collaborating with the open-source community, and tackling complex technical challenges in data ingestion, processing, and querying. Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, distributed systems, and developer tools is required, with Go experience being a plus.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own and build key backend services and infrastructure that power our observability platform, ensuring reliable, high-throughput data pipelines and APIs that developers depend on every day.
  2. Collaborate with open-source contributors and customers, solve their challenges, and incorporate their feedback into our backend architecture and API design.
  3. Design and implement scalable backend systems capable of ingesting, processing, and querying petabytes of observability data. You'll build the foundational services that empower engineers to crack production issues like never before.

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend development
  • Strong TypeScript and Node.js skills
  • Solid understanding of API design, distributed systems, and data modeling
  • Experience creating developer tooling

Nice to have

  • Experience with Go
  • Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • A passion for open source and the developer community
  • Experience with ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, or other analytical/OLTP databases
  • Strong opinions on observability tools
  • Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, logging pipelines, or metrics infrastructure
