This role focuses on analyzing and challenging credit loss forecasts for Capital One's lines of business, informing allowance and stress testing estimates. It involves identifying assumptions and limitations in credit loss estimation frameworks, supporting improvements by connecting consumer credit trends to historical behavior, creating risk models, and testing hypotheses. The role also includes developing and implementing processes for identifying, communicating, and documenting challenges to loss estimation approaches, and partnering with internal teams.

What you'd actually do

  1. Identify explicit and implicit assumptions, limitations and weaknesses of credit loss estimation frameworks and raise conceptual or tactical challenges to pressure test the appropriateness of the loss projections
  2. Support step-change improvements in credit loss estimation frameworks by connecting drivers of future consumer credit trends to historical behavior, creating risk models, and testing hypotheses using rigorous monitoring and analysis
  3. Help to develop, enhance and implement sustainable processes to identify, communicate, and document challenges to the loss estimation approaches and their resolution
  4. Work closely with colleagues across Capital One Credit Risk Management, Finance and other teams to drive effective oversight of loss forecasts
