This role focuses on building business intelligence and analytics solutions for Amazon's satellite broadband network (Amazon Leo). The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer will architect and deliver data-driven insights to streamline production operations, develop key metrics, build self-service reporting, and create data pipelines. While the role requires staying current with AI/ML advancements and evangelizing new technologies, its core function is data engineering and business intelligence, not direct AI/ML model development or deployment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Partner with cross-functional and cross-organizational teams to understand business challenges and deliver data-driven solutions that enable better decision making
  2. Develop key metrics and performance indicators that drive continuous improvement across Leo's operations
  3. Define analytical approaches and metrics strategy to uncover new insights and formulate recommendations that improve productivity
  4. Build self-service reporting solutions that scale across the organization
  5. Write complex SQL queries and develop efficient data pipelines to support both recurring and ad-hoc analytical needs

Skills

Required

  • 7+ years of SQL experience
  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
  • Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
  • Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
  • Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining
  • Bachelor's degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative field

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative field
  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
