This role is for a Senior Communications Manager within Microsoft's Research & Scientific Discovery Communications team. The primary focus is on translating complex scientific research and emerging technologies into compelling stories for external audiences. The role involves strategic planning, media relations, content development, and influencer engagement, with a familiarity with AI-enabled tools.

What you'd actually do

  1. Partner with researchers and product marketing teams to translate complex research and technical concepts for a variety of external audiences.
  2. Develop strategic plans and identify proactive storytelling opportunities grounded in scientific research and emerging tech advancements.
  3. Review media requests and advise researchers and senior executives on interviews and speaking engagements.
  4. Help develop and review owned content (e.g., blogs, op-eds, social content) in partnership with communications stakeholders.
  5. Develop and maintain relationships across a broad influencer landscape, including media, independent bloggers, creators, analysts, and academic thought leaders.
