This is a Senior Communications Manager role at Whatnot, a livestream shopping platform. The role focuses on leading communications strategy in France, building the comms function from the ground up, educating audiences about live commerce, elevating Whatnot as a household name, and managing issues and crisis communications. It requires strong PR/comms experience, fluency in French and English, and experience with Trust & Safety issues and crisis management.

What you'd actually do

  1. Build an understanding and credibility for live commerce
  2. Elevate Whatnot as a household name: Build and leverage exceptional relationships with French media (both traditional and new) and other third parties to educate key audiences on Whatnot’s business, categories, policies and values.
  3. Build and Scale Issues Management: Manage company response for crisis and navigate high-profile escalations in real-time with key stakeholders. Establish and own a communications playbook for strategic and rapid response best practices.

Skills

Required

  • 8+ years of Public Relations or corporate communications experience
  • strong understanding of the media, cultural, and policy landscape in France
  • Fluent French and English speaker
  • comfortable operating on a small team

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • experience developing key messages and content for media as well as owned and operated channels
