Senior Consultant, Load Interconnection (miso/pjm)

This role focuses on integrating large-scale compute loads into the North American power grid, specifically within MISO and PJM RTOs. The Senior Consultant will perform grid integration studies, manage transmission injection and deliverability, strategize Points of Interconnection (POIs), and navigate regulatory requirements to ensure reliable power for AI and high-performance computing. The role requires deep technical expertise in power systems and experience with ISO/RTO navigation.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform and support comprehensive grid integration studies for large-load facilities within MISO and PJM.
  2. Manage transmission injection processes and perform load deliverability studies to ensure grid stability and capacity.
  3. Strategize Points of Interconnection (POIs) based on evolving business needs and changing regulatory requirements.
  4. Contribute to the technical development of the team, sharing expertise and best practices in grid integration and ISO/RTO navigation.
  5. Work with internal teams to draft technical specifications and support Business Development on the technical aspects of project proposals.

Skills

Required

  • Master’s degree in Power Systems with 3+ years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience in power systems.
  • Deep experience in grid planning, system modeling, and grid code compliance studies.
  • Strong working knowledge of MISO/PJM transmission topology and load interconnection methodologies.
  • Ability to think outside the box to identify POIs that offer the best path to interconnection for large-scale loads.
  • Excellent technical report writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Safety and compliance knowledge

Nice to have

  • Experience with other ISO/RTO markets (e.g., CAISO, ERCOT, WECC, SERC).
  • Proficiency with power system simulation tools: PowerWorld Simulator, ETAP, TSAT, or ASPEN OneLiner.
  • Working knowledge of scripting languages such as R or Python for data analysis and automation.
