Anduril Industries is a defense technology company seeking a Senior Controls Engineer for their Manufacturing Automation team. The role involves designing, developing, and managing automated manufacturing systems, including PLC programming, SCADA development, and integration with FactoryOS software. The engineer will also lead root cause analysis and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve production reliability and efficiency. This role requires extensive experience with PLC platforms (Rockwell & Siemens), Ignition SCADA, and servo drive configuration, with a focus on high-volume manufacturing applications.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design, develop, and manage controls systems for manufacturing – this includes initial factory ideation, machine commissioning, proof of rate capability, and eventual hand-off to sustainment teams
  2. Architect, write, and debug PLC code with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable for high-volume manufacturing applications
  3. Generate and enforce internal standards for control systems architectures, regulatory compliance, and safety buyoffs
  4. Integrate internal and external FactoryOS software into automation equipment and production lines
  5. Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for automation failures, ensuring rapid resolution and long-term reliability

Skills

Required

  • PLC programming on Rockwell & Siemens platforms
  • Ignition SCADA development
  • Servo drive and VFD configuration, PID tuning, STO/SS
  • Ethernet based communication protocols
  • Integration with MES and QMS
  • Controls and automation in a production environment

Nice to have

  • Control panel layout, electrical component selection, and cable routing
  • CAD packages including Solidworks, NX, CATIA, and AutoCAD
  • TUV FS Engineer certification (Functional Safety of Machinery)
