This role is for a Senior Corporate Counsel, Employment & Litigation at Abridge, a healthcare AI company. The role focuses on managing employment and litigation matters, advising internal teams, and mitigating legal risks. While the company is in the AI space, the role itself is legal counsel and not directly involved in building or shipping AI products.

What you'd actually do

  1. Actively advise on and drive a wide range of litigation and pre-litigation matters, partnering with internal teams on fact-finding, demand letter responses, and third-party information requests.
  2. Manage and oversee outside counsel and insurance providers, to deliver favorable outcomes while effectively managing costs.
  3. Oversee subpoena requests with a pragmatic approach that balances speed, rigor, and practicality.
  4. Proactively identify, analyze, and mitigate legal risks, developing litigation strategies aligned with business priorities.
  5. Serve as a trusted advisor on employment law issues across the full employee lifecycle — including hiring, performance management, leaves of absence, accommodations, terminations, workplace investigations, restrictive covenants, wage and hour, and privacy.

Skills

Required

  • J.D. required
  • active standing in at least one U.S. state bar (California preferred)
  • 7+ years of combined legal experience handling litigation, investigations, and employment matters, including in-house experience at a technology company and/or a top-tier law firm
  • Strong knowledge of US federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Proven ability to balance risk and opportunity, thinking creatively to enable smart, practical decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and sound business judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a high volume of projects, shifting priorities, and competing demands with composure and strong organizational skills
  • A collaborative, low-ego team player who thrives on working cross-functionally and building trusted relationships across the organization

Nice to have

  • Strong familiarity with e-discovery strategy and management.
  • Experience with executive compensation matters and/or sales commission arrangements.
  • Prior in-house or law firm experience focused on technology.
  • Familiarity with recent trends in artificial intelligence, particularly large language models.
