Senior Corporate Counsel, Privacy to join Chewy's Legal Team. This role will support data governance and privacy issues, working cross-functionally with IT, Marketing, Healthcare, and HR. The position is critical for ensuring compliance with privacy and data protection laws while enabling innovation and growth. Requires a proactive, solutions-oriented attorney with strong judgment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Monitor legislation and advise on new developments in global privacy and data protection laws and regulations, including U.S. state privacy laws (_e.g._, CCPA/CPRA), PIPEDA, and other frameworks.
  2. Provide practical, business-focused guidance on the collection, use, sharing, retention, and protection of personal data across Chewy’s products and operations.
  3. Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of privacy policies, notices, and internal governance standards.
  4. Partner closely with engineering, data, and technology teams to embed privacy considerations into the design, development, and deployment of products and platforms (“privacy by design”).
  5. Review and advise on privacy implications of new products, features, technologies, and data uses, including conducting and supporting privacy impact assessments.

Skills

Required

  • JD from an accredited school with exceptional academic credentials
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in a top law firm or in-house counsel position
  • Demonstrated subject-matter expertise in privacy and data protection law in multi-jurisdictional settings
  • Experience using various privacy and data governance software tools and platforms, such as OneTrust, Ketch and BigID
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and assess and communicate legal, financial, and reputational risks while identifying practical, business-aligned paths forward
  • Significant experience providing direct and timely advice to business clients at various levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision, manage competing priorities, and navigate ambiguity
  • Excellent organization and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple matters across diverse stakeholders and products
  • Active license to practice law in at least one state and ability to become licensed as in-house counsel in Florida

Nice to have
