The role involves troubleshooting rigging and pipeline issues, mentoring junior artists, and participating in reviews. Experience with anatomy, enveloping, and various simulation types is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Build high quality, hero creature rigging and skinning in Maya
  2. Set up and run cloth, hair, rigid body, crowd, muscle simulations
  3. Troubleshoot creature rigging and pipeline issues for artists in other departments
  4. Mentor junior character artists and help them develop their skills
  5. Script utilities/tools/plug-ins in Maya

What the JD emphasized

  • Experience setting up and running a variety of simulation shotwork
  • Knowledge of anatomy and enveloping
  • Proficiency with Linux, Maya, and Houdini
  • Experience with python scripting
