This role involves using import/export regulations to classify products and determine eligibility for regulatory programs in international trade. The position acts as a liaison between UPS and government entities, resolving issues related to customs declarations, shipping restrictions, and tax payments. Responsibilities include substantiating classification decisions, engaging in Country of Origin verification, managing product databases, and communicating with customers about regulatory procedures.

What you'd actually do

  1. Substantiates classification decisions using General Rules of Interpretation (GROI), Explanatory Notes, CROSS (Customs Rulings Online Search System) and other resources.
  2. Engages in Country of Origin verification projects, contact suppliers to obtain correct Country of Origin for customers' products.
  3. Manages and organizes product databases and classification information in Excel and Access.
  4. Enters product classifications and substantiation into proprietary operating system.
  5. Communicates proactively with customers including educating customers on regulatory procedures

Skills

Required

  • US Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • International Trade, Logistics or Freight Forwarding experience
  • Previous experience with classification and/or FTA determination
