Overview
Verizon is undergoing a strategic transformation, building a world-class product organization committed to driving sustainable business growth and long-term customer value. The CXO Emerging Technology & Delivery function serves as the technical middleware and agentic integration engine of the consumer group, taking accountability for the core capabilities, reusable assets, and platform frameworks that power all direct and conversational customer interactions. Operating as the innovative technical layer that repoints legacy organizational infrastructure toward customer-first operations, this function manages the specialized deployment pipelines for advanced automation, conversational sales/service platforms, and cross-journey customer identity resolution.
In equal partnership and with shared accountability alongside Strategy, Experience Assurance (XA), Design, and direct Product lines, the Senior Director leads a team that formulates the strategic technical blueprints that embed scalable capabilities natively into our core architecture. The function bridges the gap between upstream qualitative experience benchmarks and downstream automated realities, ensuring that when an advanced capability—such as Generative AI or multi-modal agentic structures—is adopted, it works predictably across all direct and assisted customer touchpoints.
We are seeking a deeply technical, automation-first product engineering executive to lead this function. You will direct a highly specialized organization of product managers, system leads, and capability architects across four core sub-pillars: Conversational Sales, Conversational Service, Advanced Voice/RCS Channels, and Core Identity & Authentication. You will be responsible for scaling our conversational footprint, eliminating legacy manual verification silos, and executing data freezes or calculated quality gates to insulate Verizon's core consumer platform from live defect leakage.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Define Product Vision & Strategy: Formulate and champion the multi-year vision, strategic roadmap, and core capability blueprints for Verizon’s automated conversational platforms, agentic layers, and foundational enablers.
- Architect Modular AI & System Capabilities: Direct the engineering-to-product translation of complex AI architectures, large language models, and agentic middleware; manage high-leverage build-vs-buy decisions across global technological components.
- Ensure Multi-Tier Ecosystem Continuity: Enforce clarity on when requirements represent net-new builds versus the evolution of foundational conversational/data assets; safeguard seamless, non-contradictory runtime execution alongside concurrent enterprise initiatives.
- Govern Capital and Backlog Horizons: Maintain complete capital planning oversight and roadmap prioritization for advanced platform investments, systematically tracking flexible capacity across short- and long-term technical horizons.
- Drive Multi-Channel Operational Alignment: Partner with Direct Digital Channels, Assisted Care Desktops, and physical/indirect distribution networks to ensure advanced foundational enablers deploy with friction-free, omnichannel alignment.
- Spearhead Manual-to-Automation Transformation: Shift our technical execution ecosystem upstream by embedding advanced test-data generation, automated validation frameworks, and continuous delivery gates natively into the product deployment line.
- Direct Matrixed Team Evolution: Lead, coach, and transition matrixed product management leaders into elite automation architects; proactively identify capability gaps and execute targeted upskilling tracks in data science, conversational UI metrics, and subscription loops.
- Ownership of Automated Value Realization: Own and drive domain-level performance dashboards, tracking live capability scalability, automated containment rates, API transaction velocities, and core business value realization KPIs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience; Master's Degree in a technical or analytical field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or MBA) is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in technical product management, AI/GenAI product implementation, conversational commerce, or cloud-native platform architectures.
- Proven track record of building and managing matrixed technical teams, supervising automated delivery tracks, and leading zero-to-one software initiatives.
- Deep conceptual and practical understanding of conversational design systems, programmatic architectures, agentic routing layers, data clean rooms, and multi-modal customer context preservation.
- Core expertise in converting abstract global technology shifts into granular functional product requirements, structured logic models, and complex user stories.
- Demonstrated experience in high-pressure rapid-response operations, technical error automation, and rapid post-production root cause triage.
- Strong executive presence with a proven capability to communicate technical platform risks and complex AI metrics as clear, scannable business risk assessments to senior corporate leadership.
- Exhibits a passion for disruptive innovation, total outcome ownership, and an unyielding commitment to designing out technical and process complexity.
- Demonstrated passion for fostering inclusive environments, building psychological safety, and empowering diverse, cross-functional teams to collaborate openly, challenge the status quo, and deliver collective innovation.
