Senior Director, People Technology

Legora Legora · Vertical AI · London, United Kingdom · People

This role is for a Senior Director of People Technology at Legora, an AI-native legal tech company. The primary focus is on defining and building the People tech architecture for a rapidly scaling global business, including a new HRIS, integration layer, and data foundation. Responsibilities include HRIS evaluation, migration, integration with various systems, data governance, and setting the AI strategy for people technology. The role requires experience in major HRIS migrations, owning the People tech stack, and operating across multiple geographies with a focus on data privacy and compliance. While the company is AI-native and the role involves setting an AI strategy for people tech, the core function is not directly building or shipping AI models but rather managing and integrating technology, including AI tools, within the HR domain.

What you'd actually do

  1. Define the People tech architecture for the next stage of growth: system of record, integration logic, and a 12–24 month roadmap tied to headcount and geographic expansion. Own build-vs-buy-vs-configure decisions and total cost of ownership across the stack.
  2. Own the HRIS evaluation: assess the current state, build the case for change, run the vendor RFP, scoring, reference checks, and commercial negotiation.
  3. Lead the migration from data model design through to go-live, encoding the job architecture (levels, families, comp bands, cost centres, legal entities) so it's enforced by the system, not maintained in spreadsheets.
  4. Own the integration layer between the HRIS, ATS (Ashby), e-signing (Ironclad), payroll providers, IdP/SSO, finance/ERP, and downstream BI. Eliminate manual re-keying across systems and build the hire-to-retire pipeline so a single lifecycle event flows through every connected system automatically.
  5. Own People data definitions, taxonomy, quality standards, access tiers, and audit trails, including DSAR handling. Run regular integrity checks and reconciliation against Finance headcount.
