Senior Distinguished Engineer -deployment Resiliency (remote Eligible)

Senior Distinguished Engineer to steward the technical strategy for Capital One's software delivery ecosystem, focusing on ensuring the most secure and reliable path to production is also the easiest to use. This role will drive architectural vision, enable partner teams, make strategic decisions, build foundational systems, and mentor engineers within the 'One Pipeline' organization and broader engineering community.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead the architectural vision for a delivery experience that abstracts away complexity.
  2. Partner with Developer Experience teams across the enterprise to ensure our delivery platforms unlock their initiatives.
  3. Serve as a subject matter expert for the enterprise, guiding decisions on when to adopt industry standards versus building bespoke solutions.
  4. Validate architectural decisions by building the core components that teams depend on.
  5. Mentor senior engineers and foster a culture where high-quality code and operational excellence are the defaults.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience leading technical strategy for large-scale engineering organizations
  • Experience working with modern infrastructure and software delivery patterns
  • Architecting and optimizing high-efficiency developer experiences

Nice to have

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Experience in leading cross-functional platform adoption for 1,000+ engineers
