Senior Electrical Design Engineer role at RTX, focusing on supporting existing traffic and weather related avionics products. What you'd actually do

  1. Read complex electrical schematics and mechanical drawings is required
  2. Generate and update schematics, board layouts and mechanical drawings as desired
  3. Expand and apply knowledge: Product domain, Requirements, Design, Development, Test and Release software processes, tools, methods and coding best practices with primary emphasis on taking technical ownership of the product domain.
  4. Develop and document complex changes to hardware requirements documentation applying knowledge of processes, tools and methods for the management and tracking of hardware requirements baseline.
  5. Design, analyze, test, integrate, qualify and document hardware of a high complexity including multiple Engineering Change Orders.

Skills

Required

  • STEM degree
  • 5 years prior relevant experience or Advanced Degree with 3 years experience
  • US Person status
  • Experience with generating schematics / board layouts
  • Hands on experience with complex electrical hardware debug and test
  • Extensive experience in one or more electrical hardware design disciplines (digital, analog, mixed signal, power or RF)

Nice to have

  • Experience with embedded processors
  • Experience with RF systems
  • Experience with aviation industry qualification standards (DO-160, DO-254)
  • Experience meeting requirements of TSO submissions
  • Experience working with Air Transport OEM’s on developmental projects
  • Knowledge of avionics traffic and weather related products
  • Familiarity with signal processing system simulation & analysis tools (Matlab, Simulink)
  • Familiarity with configuration control concepts and tools (Agile, JIRA, GIT, Subversion)
