Boeing Phantom Works is seeking a Senior Electronic Design Engineer to work on advanced mission systems, specifically focusing on Software Defined Radio (SDR) development. The role involves leading embedded software development, implementing open architecture standards, and testing products through their lifecycle. Responsibilities include developing and validating requirements for communication, sensor, and electronic warfare systems, performing trade studies and simulations, defining and conducting tests, managing supplier performance, and supporting product lifecycle from manufacturing to customer use. The role also involves generating proposal content and working under minimal direction. Experience with C/C++, Python, C#, Kubernetes, embedded systems, Radar/EW systems, RF hardware, and Open Architectures is preferred. A U.S. Secret Security Clearance is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develops and validates requirements for various complex communication, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components. Develops and validates electromagnetic requirements for electrical\electronic systems, mechanical systems, interconnects and structures.
  2. Develops architectures to integrate complex systems and components into higher level systems and platforms.
  3. Performs complicated trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnects and system performance and to optimize design around established requirements.
  4. Defines and conducts critical tests of various kinds to validate performance of designs to requirements.
  5. Manages appropriate aspects of critical supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
  • 9+ years of work-related experience with a Bachelor's OR 7+ years with a master's OR 3+ years with a PhD
  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • active U.S. Secret Security Clearance

Nice to have

  • Experience programming in C/C++, Python, or C#
  • Experience with Kubernetes or other containerization technologies
  • Experience with message patters or transport technologies (ZMQ, Apache MQ, etc.)
  • Experience with embedded systems development
  • Experience working with Radar or EW systems
