This role is for a Senior Engagement Manager focused on Prototyping and AI Customer Engineering (PACE) within AWS. The primary responsibility is to help customers innovate using emerging cloud technologies, particularly Generative AI services, by collaborating with account teams, partners, and customers to identify opportunities, craft a vision, and oversee the delivery of prototypes. The role involves understanding customer business priorities, articulating value propositions, and driving strategic outcomes through cloud-based solutions. While the role interacts with AI services and prototypes, the core function is customer engagement, program management, and driving adoption of AWS services, rather than direct AI/ML model development or research.

What you'd actually do

  1. Proactively identify prototyping opportunities with partners, customers, sales, and account teams. EMs dive deep to understand the customer’s business priorities, as well as their technical context, to identify opportunities or gaps that require use of emerging technologies and AWS services.
  2. Create, articulate, and position a compelling vision and value proposition to convey the financial, technological and transformational value of experimenting.
  3. Work alongside Solutions Architecture leadership to support customers in the exploration, ideation, engineering and delivery of leading edge, innovative, cloud-based solutions leveraging an extensive breadth of new and emerging technologies.
  4. Qualify, execute and deliver strategic innovation, and prototyping outcomes for a variety of customers across a broad range of industries and verticals, by leading and managing the delivery of engagements.
  5. Establish the scope of engagements and define working arrangements in collaboration with customers’ technical and business stakeholders. This includes evaluating feasibility and potential long-term impact and outcomes for customers and Amazon, to ensure return on investment of engagements.

Skills

Required

  • 7+ years of customer-facing, large-scale implementation consulting experience across multiple cross-functional teams
  • 7+ years of program/project management experience leading complex, end to end projects
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience delivering cloud-based solutions on AWS or equivalent cloud services, including working knowledge of Generative AI services
  • Native level Japanese language skills
  • Business level English language skills (speaking, reading, and writing)

Nice to have

  • Experience engaging and influencing C-level and senior executive stakeholders, with a track record of building trusted advisor relationships within enterprise customer organizations
  • Familiarity with Generative AI, machine learning, or other emerging cloud technologies, with the ability to communicate their business value to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience working across diverse industries and verticals (e.g., financial services, manufacturing, retail, public sector, etc) to identify and drive cloud innovation opportunities
  • Background in pre-sales, business development, or solution consulting, with experience collaborating alongside sales and account teams to uncover and qualify new opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to capture and share learnings from customer engagements to improve team practices, services, or organizational knowledge
  • Experience working in or with partner ecosystems, including system integrators, ISVs, or technology alliances, to co-deliver cloud solutions
  • AWS certification(s) or equivalent demonstrated knowledge of AWS services, architectures, and best practices
