Senior Engineer, Environmental Health & Safety

This role is for a Senior Engineer focused on Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs within a defense technology company. The responsibilities include developing and implementing EHS programs, managing hazardous waste, conducting safety inspections, assisting with incident investigations, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. While the company utilizes AI and advanced technologies, this specific role is centered on EHS compliance and safety management, not direct AI/ML development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Assist accident/incidents investigations, analyze root causes, and implement preventative actions
  2. Serve as EHS interface and liaison with employees, managers, customers, auditors and regulators
  3. Identify workplace safety hazards and conditions for job-related tasks by performing and documenting safety inspections
  4. Heavy collaboration with other departments to help guide, teach and influence safe behaviors in the workplace
  5. Responsible for hazardous waste management, including proper handling, labeling, and storage

Skills

Required

  • 2+ years of experience implementing and overseeing environmental, health and safety programs
  • Experience in Cal/OSHA regulations
  • Experience in 40 CFR Parts 260-279 Hazardous Waste Management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, effective at engaging with leadership, regulators, front-line staff, and third-party partners
  • Capability to manage multiple activities/projects and deadlines
  • U.S. Person status
