What you'd actually do

  1. Design, build, and evolve backend systems that power Postman’s identity and authentication platform.
  2. Own projects end to end: clarify requirements, drive technical design, implement solutions, manage rollout, and support production.
  3. Work closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to scope, build, test, and launch new features and platform improvements.
  4. Improve system reliability, scalability, observability, and operational readiness for services owned by the team.
  5. Make sound technical trade-offs between speed, quality, and long-term maintainability in a fast-moving environment.

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years of experience building complex backend or distributed systems at scale
  • Experience designing and operating production systems with strong reliability requirements
  • Experience owning ambiguous problems and driving them from idea to production with minimal supervision
  • Experience leading or guiding small groups of engineers on execution
  • Strong engineering fundamentals in areas like distributed systems, networking, data modeling, and system design
  • Write code that is testable, maintainable, and easy to understand
  • Comfortable making architectural and implementation trade-offs, and can explain the reasoning clearly
  • Collaborate well with cross-functional stakeholders
