Senior Engineer for Structural Engineering (Repair) at Pratt & Whitney, focusing on analyzing repairs to ensure they meet OEM requirements, supporting customer safety, cost, and reliability. The role involves structural assessments of commercial engine components, coordinating analysis requirements, and participating in multi-disciplinary teams. Analysis may include classical methods and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

What you'd actually do

  1. Responsible for the structural assessments of repairs to commercial engine components.
  2. Coordinate structural analysis requirements for repairs with other ASE technical disciplines and module centers/Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPTs).
  3. Participate on multi-disciplinary teams to provide design solutions that meet design and life requirements.
  4. Work independently on structural analysis solutions when historical solutions are not available or applicable. Analysis may include both classical methods and/or detailed Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  5. Primary focal for structural analysis memos (SAMs) and provide structures review/approval for all repair documents.

Skills

Required

  • Advanced degree in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or Production)
  • 8 to 12 years of experience

Nice to have

  • Proficient knowledge of ANSYS or other FEA software
  • Awareness of manufacturing and/or repair processes
  • Strong understanding of low cycle fatigue and fatigue and fracture analysis theory and applications.
  • Ability to identify and work on continuous improvement activities
  • Experience using Pratt & Whitney/industry lifing systems: PWLIFE, ARLS, or crack growth (SURCK, Darwin, Franc3D) systems
  • Background in turbomachinery
  • Familiarity with Raytheon Technologies CORE Operating System
  • Competent in any programming language, eg python would be added advantage
