Senior Engineer, Supplier Development - Energy Storage System

This role focuses on supplier quality and industrialization for energy storage system components, ensuring quality requirements are met and managing supplier performance for production scaling. It involves APQP, PPAP, process audits, and cross-functional collaboration.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead supplier industrialization and readiness for ESS components (Cell, busbars, contactors, frames, fuses, sensors, CCA’s and electronic assemblies), with a preference for Battery Packs, it contents and peripherals.
  2. Support supplier selection and capability assessment for both greenfield (new plant) and brownfield (existing plant expansion) projects, ensuring alignment with program timelines and quality expectations.
  3. Drive APQP discipline and enforce PPAP requirements, ensuring suppliers meet dimensional, material, and performance validation before production approval.
  4. Develop and track industrialization project KPIs, including PPAP on-time approval, process capability (Cpk/Ppk), first-pass yield, and PPM targets to measure supplier readiness.
  5. Evaluate and validate supplier manufacturing processes by leading process audits, PFMEA reviews, control plan validation, and equipment capability/Run@rate assessments.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or other energy storage, renewable energies or other related fields
  • 3-5+ years supplier quality engineering experience
  • Strong Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
  • Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
  • Technical expertise of automotive components designs and manufacturing
  • Knowledge of Geometric Design and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience in Bettery and Cell commodities
  • In depth knowledge of IATF16949:2016
