Uber is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for Merchant Fulfillment in Bangalore, India, to lead a team of 50+ engineers and managers. Key responsibilities include leading at scale, driving reliability for the Uber Eats Orders tablet experience, building automated platforms for disputes and cancellations, leading the BYOC charter for "To-Go" orders, and owning the "Defect Reduction" mandate to predict and prevent order failures. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in people management, building high-scale distributed systems, and translating business goals into technical roadmaps.

What you'd actually do

  1. Manage and mentor a high-performing org of ~50 engineers and managers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, operational rigor, and customer empathy.
  2. Own the "Uber Eats Orders" (UEO) tablet experience and the underlying reliability systems that ensure 99.99% uptime for order injection and processing.
  3. Build intelligent, automated platforms for Chargebacks, Cancellations, and Disputes, reducing financial losses for merchants and Uber while improving fairness.
  4. Lead the BYOC (Bring Your Own Courier) charter, building the "To-Go" and courier onboarding tech that allows merchants to fulfill orders with their own fleets.
  5. own the "Defect Reduction" mandate, using technology to predict and prevent order failures before they happen.
