Senior Equipment Engineer role focused on designing, building, and maintaining custom industrial automation equipment, including electrical/PLC, robotics, and mechanical systems, within a manufacturing environment. Requires expertise in diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and project execution.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design and Build Custom Automation Equipment: Lead the design, development, and construction of custom industrial automation equipment to meet specific manufacturing needs.
  2. Lead Diagnostics and Root Cause Analysis: Diagnose complex equipment failures, identify root causes, and communicate effective action plans to the team.
  3. Expert Training and Development: Serve as an expert-level trainer on all machines within assigned areas and be responsible for training and developing other employees to up-level their skills.
  4. Preventative Maintenance Leadership: Develop, implement, and enhance preventative maintenance documents and schedules.
  5. Equipment Reliability Projects: Design and execute Equipment Reliability Improvement Projects to enhance operational efficiency.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Expertise in CATIA or similar 3D CAD software
  • Extensive experience with rapid prototyping in small to medium volume production
  • In-depth understanding of relevant manufacturing processes and engineering materials
  • Comprehensive experience with system designs utilizing mechatronic and pneumatic components
  • Advanced machine shop skills, including the use of lathes, mills, welders, and other machine shop equipment
  • Proven track record in executing projects from initial concept development through final commissioning
  • Extensive experience in machine control panel wiring and design
  • Knowledge and exposure to industrial Programmable Logic Controllers
  • Proven experience in designing and building custom industrial automation equipment
