Senior Finance Manager - Server Demand Planning

This role is for a Senior Finance Manager focused on Server Demand Planning within Microsoft's Integrated Business Planning (IBP) Finance team. The primary responsibilities include matching server demand to supply, analyzing fleet utilization, and identifying optimization opportunities to ensure cloud services meet forecast accuracy, revenue, and margin growth targets. The role involves strategic alignment, capacity shaping, and financial analysis for strategic projects, partnering closely with Azure Engineering and other finance teams.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead specialty non-GPU capacity planning and serve as a dedicated capacity planner, partnering with Finance and capacity planning teams to influence strategy.
  2. Drive strategic alignment in IBP, ship room, and other ROB activities like close, forecast, LRP, and budget.
  3. Build up metrics to track and influence strategy; shape capacity through utilization insights and optimize portfolio where we have cold capacity.
  4. Influence capacity shaping for processor and platform mix.
  5. Analyze drivers for monthly Azure server rack plan changes. Ensure rack plan fidelity and reasonableness. Partner with Azure Engineering Group and Workload Owners to validate changes and ensure proper server resource allocation.

Skills

Required

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR equivalent experience.

  • Proven data and financial modeling capabilities and ability to work with financial systems.
  • Ability to communicate complex analysis in a simple and clear way in Executive forums (verbal or written).
