Senior Finance Manager, Studios Expense Lead

This role is for a Senior Finance Manager on the Xbox Game Studios Finance team, focusing on supporting first-party studios by managing studio expenses, ensuring accuracy with accounting and royalties, and optimizing gross margin and accountability margin. The role involves allocating central expenses, managing the balance sheet, and collaborating with various finance, accounting, and marketing teams to drive margin growth and P&L optimization. It requires strong financial analysis, reporting, and data translation skills, as well as the ability to manage compliance and mitigate risks.

What you'd actually do

  1. Partner with a broad set of teams to drive insight and analytics into the key drivers of the first-party gaming business and be an integral part of the gaming finance team.
  2. Develop subject matter specialty in studio expenses, maintaining high-quality reporting standards and driving forecast accuracy across the studios’ portfolio.
  3. Serve as a trusted financial advisor to leaders, enabling data driven solutions that support critical strategic initiatives and optimize ROI (Return on Investment).
  4. Primary point of contact for the first-party studios’ central expenses, working with engineering, accounting, and marketing in setting up proper allocations of central costs to our first-party gaming studios and running periodic reviews of our balance sheet.
  5. Design new approaches to collecting and evaluating financial data and creating additional value by translating data into actionable insights and implementing creative ways to communicate findings from data.

Skills

Required

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR equivalent experience.

Nice to have

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 6+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience OR Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 8+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance work experience OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) experience in multinationals with multi-product/multi-segment finance roles.
  • 1+ year(s) work experience in matrix-based organization.
  • 1+ year(s) work experience in the technology or software industry.
  • 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint; Familiarity or experience with core Microsoft financial analysis and reporting processes and tools is highly valued.
  • Ability to develop trusted partnerships with business leaders and other stakeholders.
  • Able to handle a high degree of ambiguity and quickly identify what needs to be accomplished across multiple concurrent workstreams.
