This Senior Financial Analyst role supports Amazon's Supply Chain Optimization Technology (SCOT) organization, focusing on financial analysis, planning, and reporting. The role partners with AI/ML engineers and scientists to drive P&L impact, evaluate algorithmic decision outcomes, and leverage AI/automation tools for analysis. While the role works closely with AI systems and evaluates their outputs, its core function is financial analysis and business partnership, not building or shipping AI models.

What you'd actually do

  1. Conduct deep-dive financial analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities across SCOT operations
  2. Support short-term and long-term financial planning processes and forecasting activities
  3. Perform financial modeling and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making
  4. Conduct rigorous financial reviews of replenishment and placement systems in partnership with science and product teams, translating findings into network design improvements with measurable P&L impact
  5. Build and maintain metrics and audit mechanisms to evaluate algorithmic decision outcomes, flagging when models underperform and surfacing data-driven recommendations

Skills

Required

  • 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
  • 4+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
  • 4+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
  • 4+ years of identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics or business, or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience
  • Experience with advanced use of SQL for data mining and business intelligence

Nice to have

  • 4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
  • MBA, or CPA
  • Knowledge of Tableau
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
