Senior Global Category Manager

This role is for a Senior Global Category Manager within Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) division, specifically supporting the U.S. Government Airgap team. The primary focus is on developing and executing multi-year sourcing and category strategies for datacenter infrastructure mechanical and electrical equipment and services, ensuring continuity of supply and meeting government-specific sovereignty and compliance requirements. Responsibilities include stakeholder influence, negotiation and contracting, supplier management, sourcing execution, risk and compliance, and cross-functional collaboration. The role requires a Master's degree or equivalent experience in a related field and several years of experience in areas like supply chain, data science, finance, or project management. Citizenship verification is required due to the nature of supporting U.S. government customers.

What you'd actually do

  1. Independently define, own, and execute multi-year sourcing and category strategies for one or more complex purchasing categories within AGC datacenter infrastructure mechanical and electrical equipment and services.
  2. Serve as the recognized category subject matter expert across CO+I and AGC.
  3. Develop pricing and negotiation strategies for high-value, high-complexity engagements.
  4. Define and manage supplier scorecard criteria, coordinate executive-level performance reviews, and drive corrective actions when performance gaps emerge.
  5. Integrate business specifications into sourcing events (RFI/RFP/RFQ), drive consistency, timeliness, and quality of deliverables, and ensure stakeholders are aware of and aligned to Service Level Agreements.

Skills

Required

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 3+ years experience in data science/analytics, finance, project management, supply chain, and/or operation OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 4+ years experience in data science/analytics, finance, project management, supply chain, and/or operations OR equivalent experience.
