Samsara is seeking a Senior Hardware Reliability Engineer to design and implement quality processes for their hardware products, ensuring high standards from concept to warranty. This role involves analyzing test and field performance data, collaborating cross-functionally, and driving actions to ensure product quality. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in hardware reliability, stress testing, and failure analysis.

What you'd actually do

  1. Work cross-functionally with partners in Hardware/Firmware Engineering, Operations, and Support to ensure our customers have a best-in-class product experience.
  2. Design in reliability through the product development process and own product reliability modeling, testing, and validation.
  3. Set reliability requirements and allocate reliability targets to subsystems.
  4. Lead product quality investigations in addition to root cause and corrective actions with internal cross-functional team members and external vendors.
  5. Evaluate and investigate defect trends that improve incoming material and outgoing product quality.

Skills

Required

  • MSc/PhD in Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience working in a Hardware Reliability Engineer role
  • Experience with stress testing; fatigue testing, vibration, and shock testing, electrical stress, and environmental stress.
  • Experience with failure analysis methodologies.
  • Understanding the physics of failure and the application of stresses to underlying failure mechanisms.
  • Experience with Design for Reliability concepts.
  • Experience with JDM development model.
  • Experience with third-party test oversight, and test execution.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, creative and critical problem-solving capabilities.
