Senior It Applications Engineer

Aurora Innovation Aurora Innovation · Robotics · Mountain View, CA · Corporate IT

This role focuses on managing and automating Aurora's core SaaS ecosystem, including collaboration and incident management platforms. It involves setting technical strategy, building integrations, and driving the adoption of Enterprise AI tools to improve operational efficiency and unlock new capabilities. The role requires strong skills in IT applications, integrations, automation, and scripting, with a focus on enterprise-level solutions.

What you'd actually do

  1. Serve as the owner and subject matter expert (SME) for Aurora's collaboration and communication platforms (Google Workspace, Slack, etc.), strategizing the technical direction and roadmap for this domain, and acting as the go-to expert who troubleshoots complex issues for other support and engineering teams.
  2. Own solutioning for incident and alert management platforms (FireHydrant, OpsGenie, and similar) — building the integrations and automated workflows that strengthen Aurora's operational response.
  3. Eliminate repetitive manual processes by building robust process automations using respective platform APIs and scripting (e.g., Python, JavaScript/Google Apps Script).
  4. Define build-vs-buy strategy and licensing/optimization decisions, exercising sound financial judgment and using data and platform usage driven insights to manage cost and discipline SaaS spend.
  5. Design and automate identity and lifecycle workflows (onboarding, offboarding, role changes) and SaaS integrations across the enterprise ecosystem (Jira, Confluence, and related systems) using APIs, webhooks, integration platforms such as Workato, and identity/IAM tooling (Okta, SSO, SCIM).
  6. Drive adoption of Enterprise AI and productivity tools (e.g., low-code/no-code platforms, Claude, and similar), and act as the escalation point for advanced support across these platforms — partnering with Security, IT, and Engineering to deliver solutions safely and unlock new capabilities.
