This role is for a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase, focusing on maintaining and improving governance technology products. The engineer will drive the adoption and governance of AI-assisted engineering practices, ensuring code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes. Responsibilities include decomposing technical problems, implementing solutions with quality, contributing to team culture, and applying knowledge of AI-assisted development tools within the SDLC. A strong understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, and secure handling of inputs/outputs is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Drives adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test acceleration, release readiness, incident/root-cause analysis), while establishing measurable validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of proven patterns and automation within the SDLC/TLM toolchain.
  2. Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation at scale.
  3. Decompose technical problems and build loosely coupled, highly cohesive solutions.
  4. Implement solutions with an eye for detail and a passion for quality code.
  5. Contribute to a team culture of mutual respect and active ownership.

Skills

Required

  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and programming skills
  • Demonstrated experience in Java development and with distributed computing
  • Experience with prompt engineering
  • Demonstrated experience leading effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching senior engineers/leads on compliant usage patterns and controls.

Nice to have

  • Advanced knowledge of refactoring techniques, domain‑driven design, and object‑oriented design patterns; experience evolving legacy codebases safely.
  • Experience designing and implementing distributed services and event driven architectures.
  • Experience with GoLang or Rust programming languages.
  • Experience with behavior driven development test tools such as Cucumber.
