This role supports the Labor and Employment legal team by assisting attorneys with employment-related matters, including litigation, administrative charges, policy development, and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include managing discovery, conducting legal research, and coordinating with internal stakeholders.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provide comprehensive support for employment litigation, including managing the discovery process, drafting responses to interrogatories, and coordinating document productions.
  2. Generate and maintain internal legal reports and dashboards to track matter status, litigation trends, and key performance metrics for senior legal leadership.
  3. Assist attorneys in responding to administrative charges filed with the EEOC and various state and local human rights agencies.
  4. Conduct legal research on federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (e.g., Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA).
  5. Draft and proofread legal documents, including settlement agreements, separation agreements, and internal legal memoranda.

Skills

Required

  • 5 + years of experience as a paralegal/legal assistant specializing in employment law.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing discovery and e-discovery processes for employment-related litigation.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills, with proficiency in Westlaw, LexisNexis, or similar legal research tools.
  • Proficiency in data management and the ability to compile complex information into clear, concise internal reports.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in document preparation and filing.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion.
  • Superior organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with legal document management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with internal corporate reporting or legal operations metrics.

Nice to have

  • Experience in a large law firm or a corporate legal department is highly preferred.
  • Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program is strongly preferred.
  • Notary Public commission is a plus.
