Senior Low Observables Engineer - Mission Systems

Anduril Anduril · Defense · Costa Mesa, CA · Air Dominance & Strike : Air Dominance & Strike Hardware : Low Observables / Survivability

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company seeking a Senior Low Observables Engineer for their Mission Systems team. The role focuses on designing, analyzing, testing, and sustaining stealth features for unmanned air vehicles, specifically antennas that reduce radar and infrared signatures. Responsibilities include antenna design, simulation, optimization, requirement decomposition, prototyping, integration, and testing. Requires 8+ years of RF and antenna R&D experience, proficiency in RF concepts, antenna modeling tools (HFSS, CST), analytical tool development (MATLAB, C++, Python), and antenna measurement techniques. A BS or higher in STEM and an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance are mandatory.

What you'd actually do

  1. Assist in the design and development of antennas that go on low observable unmanned air vehicles
  2. Design, simulate, and optimize antennas that meet RF performance while maintaining RADAR cross section requirements
  3. Develop and decompose requirements by performing link-budget analysis to support RF system architecture trades such as required antenna gain, pattern coverage, co-site interference, etc.
  4. Lead IR&D development of antenna designs by rapid design and prototyping of antennas to support program emerging needs
  5. Work with subcontractors and/or internal development teams to integrate antenna systems onto un-manned platforms

Skills

Required

  • Proficient knowledge of RF concepts which as aperture antennas, impedance matching, smith chart, etc.
  • Proficient in antenna prototyping tools and techniques
  • Experience with antenna modeling and prediction tools, such as Computational Electromagnetic (CEM) tools, HFSS, CST Microwave Studio, SENTRi, ADS, FEKO
  • Proficient in building RF analytical tools in MATLAB, C++, Python
  • Proficient in antenna measurement techniques such as anechoic chamber, near field/far field RF measurements, RCS measurements
  • BS or higher degree in STEM discipline
  • Must possess and be able to maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance

Nice to have

  • Experience with designing LO apertures
  • Experience in phased array designs, RF front-ends, and testing
  • Hands-on maintenance experience with Low Observable aircraft
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding environment

What the JD emphasized

  • Must possess and be able to maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance
