Role Description
The Senior Manager, Data Center & Infrastructure Construction – ANZ will provide senior leadership and oversight for all data center and infrastructure construction projects across Australia and New Zealand. This role will be responsible for managing Construction Managers and Project Managers, overseeing project execution, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
The position will act as the regional construction leader for ANZ, providing direction across project planning, contractor management, project controls, cost management, schedule performance, risk management, governance, and stakeholder communication. The role will also ensure that construction teams follow global standards, regional requirements, and consistent delivery processes across all ANZ projects.
This position requires strong leadership, construction delivery experience, and the ability to manage multiple projects, teams, contractors, and stakeholders across the region. The role may require up to 25% travel to support project reviews, site visits, contractor meetings, governance reviews, and regional business needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide senior leadership and oversight for all data center and infrastructure construction projects across ANZ.
- Manage and support Construction Managers and Project Managers responsible for project delivery.
- Oversee project execution to ensure alignment with safety, quality, schedule, budget, risk, and governance requirements.
- Lead regional construction planning, delivery strategy, project prioritization, and execution reviews.
- Monitor construction progress across multiple projects and provide direction where issues, risks, or delays occur.
- Review project schedules, cost reports, risk registers, change orders, contractor performance, and project status updates.
- Drive accountability across project teams, contractors, consultants, and vendors.
- Ensure projects follow global construction standards, project controls, reporting processes, and governance requirements.
- Partner with Global Project Controls, Design, Operations, Procurement, Finance, Legal, Safety, and other internal stakeholders.
- Support contractor selection, onboarding, performance management, escalation, and issue resolution.
- Provide executive-level reporting on project status, risks, milestones, cost position, schedule performance, and delivery outlook.
- Identify and escalate major project risks, commercial issues, resource constraints, and delivery blockers.
- Support cost management, budget oversight, forecasting, change management, and commercial governance across the ANZ portfolio.
- Promote consistent construction delivery practices across Australia and New Zealand.
- Support team development, resource planning, workload management, and capability building within the regional construction team.
- Lead lessons learned, continuous improvement, and process alignment across the ANZ construction portfolio.
- Travel up to 25% as required to support site visits, project reviews, stakeholder meetings, and regional construction activities.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of relevant construction management experience, preferably in data center, critical facilities, infrastructure, industrial, or mission-critical environments.
- Proven experience leading construction teams, Project Managers, Construction Managers, contractors, consultants, and vendors.
- Experience overseeing multiple construction projects across a regional portfolio.
- Strong understanding of data center or infrastructure construction delivery, including safety, quality, schedule, cost, risk, and governance.
- Experience with project controls, cost management, forecasting, change management, reporting, and construction governance.
- Ability to manage complex stakeholder environments across internal teams, external partners, contractors, and senior leadership.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in Australia and New Zealand construction markets is preferred.
- Data center or critical facilities construction experience is strongly preferred.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% across ANZ and the wider region as required.
