Senior Manager It Storage Engineering

AMD AMD · Semiconductors · San Jose, CA · General Management/ Administration/ Support

Lead the strategy, architecture, and delivery of enterprise storage and data protection platforms supporting both EDA and corporate workloads. This role is responsible for defining scalable, high-performance, and resilient storage solutions across datacenter and cloud environments, while ensuring alignment with business objectives, security, compliance, and cost optimization. The position also oversees operational excellence, innovation (including AI-scale workloads), and engineering team leadership. Drive automation initiatives using AI tools, Infrastructure-as-Code, and scripting (Ansible, Terraform, Python, PowerShell). Design solutions supporting AI workloads (including >5TB/s training throughput).

What you'd actually do

  1. Own and evolve the storage platform roadmap, balancing EDA performance requirements with enterprise resilience, compliance, and cost goals
  2. Define and govern reference architectures across file, block, object storage, and data protection (on-prem and cloud)
  3. Lead storage design reviews for EDA workflows, including metadata-intensive and high IOPS/low latency workloads (build/test/simulation/regression flows)
  4. Establish standard patterns for tiering, archiving, retention, immutability (WORM), and disaster recovery (RPO/RTO, replication, failover)
  5. Design solutions supporting AI workloads (including >5TB/s training throughput)
