Senior Manager, Procurement & Strategic Sourcing

Fivetran Fivetran · Data AI · Oakland, CA · Finance Department

This role is for a Senior Manager of Strategic Sourcing at Fivetran, focusing on procurement and vendor negotiations for technology/SaaS, marketing, and contingent workforce. The position involves managing contracts, identifying cost synergies, and partnering with various departments to ensure value from vendor spending. The role requires experience in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and procurement tools like Coupa and Ironclad. While the role mentions using conversational AI tools, its core function is procurement, not AI/ML development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing and procurement for contracts ranging from $50K to $500K+, including RFPs, vendor selection, negotiation, and execution
  2. Own vendor management and renewal cycles across key spend categories including SaaS/technology, marketing, and contingent workforce
  3. Identify and drive technology consolidation and cost synergy opportunities across the Fivetran and dbt combined vendor landscape
  4. Develop and execute category strategies that align with business priorities and deliver measurable savings and risk reduction
  5. Partner with Finance, Legal, IT, and functional business owners to ensure sourcing decisions are compliant, commercially sound, and strategically aligned

Skills

Required

  • 6+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or vendor management
  • Demonstrated success negotiating complex contracts across multiple spend categories (technology/SaaS, marketing, contingent workforce, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with procurement and contract lifecycle tools, particularly Coupa and Ironclad
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyze TCO, benchmark pricing, and structure deals that balance value, risk, and speed
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills — able to influence without authority and navigate competing priorities across cross-functional teams
  • Experience managing vendor renewals and consolidation initiatives, including driving alignment across business units with different priorities
  • Ability to use conversational AI tools (such as Claude or ChatGPT) to accelerate research, contract summarization, vendor benchmarking, and communication drafting

Nice to have

  • Experience working through a merger, acquisition, or large-scale integration where vendor rationalization was a key workstream
  • Familiarity with SaaS pricing models, ELAs, and usage-based contracts in a data or analytics software context
  • Experience building or scaling a sourcing function from an early or informal stage
